Diese Varianten sind nicht zu unterschätzen, der Autor warnt eindringlich davor, diese Varianten als minderwertig zu betrachten nur weil sie nicht so oft in der Praxis vorkommen. Im vierten Kapitel analysiert Aagaard den gefährlichen weißen Zug 5.Sh3. Dieser Zug stellt für den Stonewall die größte Herausforderung dar. Natürlich wird ein erfahrener Spieler diese mit 1 ... e6 umgehen, doch etwas unerfahrenere Spieler könnten hier schmerzvolle Erfahrungen machen.
