This small three-player chess set is a wooden set built around a hexagonal board, so three people can play at the same time. It is compact enough for home play or travel, and it also suits family games and sessions with friends.

Three players, one board

The main advantage of this set is its format. Three people can sit down at a single chessboard together, so no one has to wait off to the side while the others play. As a result, each game develops differently from standard chess.

The set includes three differently coloured Staunton-style piece sets in light natural, dark brown and cherry. The different colours make the position easier to follow even when all three sides are active at once.

Materials and finish

The chess pieces are made from hornbeam and beech wood, while the chessboard is made from beech and birch wood. The board lines are burned in, the dark squares are finished with brown stain, and the alphanumeric notation is applied by pyrography. These details give the set a traditional wooden look and help keep the hexagonal board easy to read.

After the game, the pieces fit inside the folding chessboard case, where a three-compartment felt-lined insert keeps the three sets separated and in order. The set also includes a rule booklet with diagrams showing example moves on the hexagonal board.
