French Lardy Staunton-style chess pieces, 3.75 inches are a hand-carved set of chess pieces made for standard play on boards with 50–55 mm squares. The French Lardy design gives them a classic, easy-to-read profile without unnecessary ornament.
The light pieces are made from Indian acacia wood, while the dark pieces are made from boxwood. Each piece is handmade by Indian craftsmen and finished with a smooth polish, giving the set a neat, well-defined appearance and a comfortable feel in use.
These chess pieces are also weighted for added stability on the board, and the bases are lined with green felt to help them move smoothly and protect the playing surface.
What’s included
The set contains 34 pieces in total: 16 light pieces, 16 dark pieces and 2 extra queens. The spare queens are useful when a pawn is promoted during longer games.
For storage, the pieces can be kept in cotton bags or in a wooden case. If you are choosing a case, size no. 7 is recommended.
