Reykjavik acacia and boxwood chess pieces, 3.5 inches are classic Staunton-style tournament pieces with double weighting and a natural wooden finish inspired by the Reykjavik style.
These wooden pieces are a good choice for players who want a stable feel on the board and a traditional look for regular games at home or in a club. They also suit buyers matching their pieces to a tournament-style chessboard.
Inspired by Reykjavik
The Reykjavik model takes its cue from the Staunton-style pieces associated with the 1972 World Championship match in Reykjavik. That gives the set a familiar profile and a calm, timeless appearance.
The pieces are made from acacia and boxwood and finished in natural wood tones. They are double weighted, which gives them a heavier, more settled feel during play.
The set includes 34 pieces, with one extra queen for White and one extra queen for Black. The king stands 90 mm high, the pawn 45 mm, and the base diameters are approximately 40 mm for the king, 36 mm for the queen, 31 mm for the bishop, 32 mm for the knight, 32 mm for the rook, and 26 mm for the pawn.
Board pairing and storage
For the best proportions, these pieces are recommended for a chessboard with 50–55 mm squares. If you need a matching storage option, a wooden Staunton No. 7 case is suitable and sold separately. The chessboard shown in the photos is also sold separately.
