This Capablanca chess set is an expanded version of standard chess for players who want a more complex game, with two extra pieces and a larger 10 × 10 board that opens up fresh tactical possibilities.

Created by José Raúl Capablanca, this variant keeps the familiar structure of chess but adds the Archbishop and Chancellor. The result is a game that rewards experienced players with new attacking ideas, different defensive patterns and more room for strategic planning.

How Capablanca chess works

The main difference lies in the two additional pieces:

• Archbishop: moves like a bishop and a knight
• Chancellor: moves like a rook and a knight

Those extra moves change the shape of the game from the opening onward, creating more possible setups and combinations than in classic chess. It is a natural choice for players who already know the standard rules and want a more demanding variant to explore.

The set comes in No. 4 format and includes 40 + 40 pieces. The board measures 410 × 405 × 25 mm, with a 30 mm square size. The king stands 59 mm high, with a 21 mm base diameter, and the pawns are 28 mm high. The piece bases are protected with a material layer, and additional queens are included.
